First of all, im back from vacation, i had my rest and im ready to continue my translation.
Speaking of which, Tales of Destiny 2 won the Poll so that will be the game i am translating next
SkyBladeCloud is helping me decrypting the files so i want to thank him for that
Also this project will take some more time then BBS since i will take my time changing the character
Limitation this time and i will work more relaxed

Well today we made sure that the section we assumed to be the text was actually the text, we used a real time RAM editor to make sure,
So we're in, Sky is decrypting the rest of the text
And i am creating a table, and with that, we should be able to view and edit the text after we're both done, from there on, i can start translating
BTW.
I can make some temporary translations now though, have a look at this:
We reached [almost] all the script, and i am editing the text fine with my table,
I also translated some anime movies, but i can’t give you screenshots or movies or whatever YET
Because i have yet to find a way to reinsert it [waiting for Sky...]
UPDATE:
I’m kind of late with this and you probably already noticed, but the main protagonist’s name will be Kyle after winning the poll
Also, i spoke with Sky a few days ago and he had all kinds of problems with his router and he had some more projects to take care of and college etc. etc. so he’s been kind of busy lately, but he told me he might finish the reinsertor by next week, meaning that we can actually show you results, even though i haven’t translated many files yet, due to my school that started 5 weeks ago and some other stuff
So yeah…stay tuned ^^

Why would anyone want a translation for a game that’s coming out soon, I’ll never understand … sheesh. If you like the voices so much, I’m pretty sure an undub will be released sooner or later ( like with all KH games ).
Anyway, back on topic! TALES OF F***ING DESTINY, BABY! I can’t wait for this … the best game on the pool so far! Glad to see there’s a lot of Tales fanboys here.

brunz, Bleach HTS7 and all the other previous B:HTS games dont use a hard compression so it would be a piece of cake to translate, so i’ll see what i can do

Also, you might want to add a % for the skits. Those are usually the biggest part of any tales game.

I thought tales of destiny 2 in psp are not possible for translation, that’s what I saw in some fan translation forum. I was about to give up on playing this game, good thing your doing this project nice one dude.
For the translation/arte naming and such will you use familiar localized conventions from the series which are helpful and cool for long time fans or are you going to just do a dull direct translation?

It depends, i never translated a “Tales of” game before, so if i for example see “Sonic Sword” then i’ll name it “Sonic Blade” of course,
but if its something a bit different, then i dont know if i’ll be able to recognize it with the USA artes
Hope the grammar/sentence construction will be better than BBS’s this time..

This project will take more time than BBS, i will work more relaxed, i’ll edit pointers, meaning that i will remove the character limitations, so dont worry about the grammar

Missle Sword (Used in the EnglishDestiny)
Sonic Blade (Used in the English Eternia)
Demon Fang (The Most used plus recent and consistent through recent games translation of majinken)
As a big Tales Fan I like recognizing the localized conventions for move names so this makes me worry. If you want to translate the game to look more like a localization I shall link the Tales wiki here as you can simply type in a move and find it as well as all it’s different names and japanese spelling it’s an awesome reference for other things as well like character names and such.

Wtf are you talking about? Tales of Destiny 2 was already released in the US back in 2001 on Ps1…..Unless your talking about the Ps2 version…

The PS1 Tales of Destiny II was a mislabled Tales of Eternia.
The actual sequal is the PS2 Tales of Destiny 2.

Here’s a suggestion. Most likely the Menu and Skills are translated already so if you’d like either I or someone else can link you to the translations already and most of them are on GameFAQs I believe.
You can even check out Phantasian Productions 2.0 on their translation of the PS2 version of ToD2

I have some sad news, in the last 3 weeks, i’ve been really sick for about 1 week, and for the other 2 weeks, i was very very very busy
meaning that i barely translated anything in ToD2 over the last few weeks but i have some good news also…I fixed the problem with Hex Editors not reading my table, so everything should speed up alot from now on
also, thanks for the support and the enthousiasm, it keeps me going

well, the JAP game displays artes as ["katakana"] ["hiragana"]
we could put it like ["english"] ["romanji"]
however, i’m not sure if we have enough space, the text may go off the screen, so we’ll see if we can do it…

yes please, romanji only if feasible, but when you’ve done that, if there are similar named skills with Tales of Destiny, copy that instead of any other tales of game
eg. Majinken = Missile Sword not Sonic Wave
or you can simply call it majinken in romanji not in japanese symbols so we not familiar with katakana or hiragana will know what skills we’re using and that will be hugely appreciated.
but like you said, only do it if you have enough space, translating is good enough and I’m thankful somebody does the job I couldn’t.

Just a note: I saw in your proof of concept video that all the translated text appears to be in all caps – will that be true for the final version of the patch as well? Lowercase might be nice, and it’d be easier to fit in, I suppose..

I’m sorry, I might wrap some things up later on and release a small menu/item/artes patch but really, the font looks horrible (especially in the menu’s!)
Looking at the screenshots the font looks legible enough to read, besides from being in all caps, but if your going to quit at very least release what you’ve done as a menu translation. Don’t let all the anticipation go to waste.
@13Philip13: It’s really not as bad as you think it is. There’s no need to stop it. We’re not picky at all. As long as it’s in english, hell just the story line, I’ll be fine. I just desperately want to see this in english.
Cancelled that’s blasphemy, he’s just taking a break, why I say that…well Phantasia took around 4 years and Innocence took 2 years. Good games with good quality take a good amount of time. I have FAITH and PATIENCE.

I’ve been hoping and watching for a translation of this game since it came out — please don’t give up on this! The font isn’t bad at all, and many people would be overjoyed to be able to play ToD2!

I don’t know if my post will make a difference but I would like to just say that the font isn’t terrible at all. If you think it’s terrible because it is all in caps; I can guarantee that no one would really care about it. In fact, I think more fans would be upset that you are not continuing instead of the fact that the font isn’t lower-cased or terrible (Which it isn’t!). If you wanted to cancel this project for other reasons that you for some reason didn’t mention then that is something I completely understand, but don’t let it go over something little like this! Still though, whatever your decision; I fully support you and appreciate all that you do!
